YEAR-END BALANCE SHEET

A year with "Herr Grau" (Mr. Grey)

Our top fans Stefania and Guiseppe travelled to many different countries last year with their chic e-line "Herr Grau" (Mr. Grey) and report on their best experiences on their travels:

"At the end of the year, we look back and reflect on everything we have experienced in the year that is now coming to an end. Well... a whole lot!!!

Accompanied by our "Herr Grau", we travelled south to Morocco on a wonderful month-long tour. We travelled east to the Danube Delta in Romania and west, where we spent another month travelling around and circumnavigating Scotland. And then many shorter excursions and trips where we tasted the products and got to know the small medieval villages of Italy - in short, many, many kilometres.

Our motorhome has always stood the test of time and has also coped well with adverse weather conditions on a wide variety of roads. In rain or strong winds, it always reassures me to know that I'm safe in a well-built motorhome. Many people are fascinated by the colours and furniture when buying a motorhome. However, the most important thing is wrongly put in the background. For example: "Herr Graus" beautiful grey walls conceal load-bearing longitudinal beams for connecting the walls and floor. The special connection between the body and the side members themselves ensures excellent torsion resistance. We can assure you that we have had this confirmed once again on the roads we have travelled, especially in Morocco.

After crossing Spain in the pouring rain, we were amazed by the beauty of Morocco. In the collective imagination, Morocco is desert, dromedaries... But that's not all! The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range that forms a barrier between the sea and the Sahara and are over 4,000 metres high! In the midst of cedar forests, Berber villages, the Todra and Dadres gorges, our "Herr Grau" drove smoothly around bends, hairpin bends and even more bends on very poor and impermeable roads.

It was precisely on these roads full of potholes, on which we had to slalom so often, that it happened to us that the engine switched off - precisely because we couldn't avoid a deep pothole - due to the fuel cut-off, which rightly kicks in in such cases for our protection.

Nobody thinks to check in advance where the reset button is, although they should. Because our vehicles are special and the habitation of the driver's cab of our motorhome differs from the classic driver's cab. On our "Herr Grau", who has a Fiat Ducato chassis, the reset switch is very hidden. But once you know where it is, it is very easy to reach. Let me explain: On the passenger side, on the floor, at the very back, under the glove compartment, you must first remove the panel. Once you have done this, you will find a black button on the right-hand side, possibly labelled "Reset". Simply press it and you're done. Please make a note of this in the user guide so that you don't panic because you don't know what to do.

On the way back, we didn't have to waste time checking whether the screws had come loose - simply because there aren't any! The entire interior of the furniture in Carthago motorhomes is form-fitting, so that it follows the vibrations of the vehicle and does not make any noise.

The trip to Morocco was simply fantastic and we were very happy that we were able to return with a different itinerary to our last trip. Of course, we also drove on roads with a lot of gravel. The desert itself consists of pebbles rather than sand in many places, but the underbody of "Herr Grau" and all the Carthagos is perfectly protected and so we had no problems.

The roads in Scotland are a different story. Here we had to say goodbye to the wide open spaces.

The Hightlands are rugged, the roads are often narrow or even single-lane. But the fact that there are passing places where you can stop to let oncoming vehicles past is very practical, and even with our "Herr Graus" length of 8 metres we had no problems. It was wonderful to linger on the moor, surrounded by purple heather, alone with the sound of the wind. These are the things that make you say: Yes, I made the right choice many, many years ago when I decided to become a camper!

And Romania? A beautiful, fast-growing country that is increasingly preparing to welcome motorhome travellers. The streets are beautiful and the people are friendly. It is also a journey through time, as some areas are still very rural in character.

As you can see, our "Herr Grau" has a lot to tell the neighbouring motorhomes after this year when he's in the garage."
