Erlensee Campsite: Pure relaxation – surrounded by beautiful countryside.

At the Erlensee campsite, motorhome owners can enjoy views across the lake to the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills and look forward to a wide range of day trips and leisure activities. It’s just a stone’s throw from the motorway to this little idyll with its private lake: the journey takes a mere ten minutes along a newly upgraded expressway from the A8 motorway. And the campsite is open all year round.

A calm lake reflects trees and a bright blue sky, whilst tall reeds frame the foreground on both sides – an idyllic scene that is perfect for showcasing a campsite.

An ideal starting point for cycle rides.

With its clear, emerald-green water, Lake Erlensee is nestled within the charming natural surroundings of a protected landscape area. The campsite is situated right by the lake and borders the unspoilt floodplains of the Inn. There, on the banks of the green River Inn, the long-distance cycle route of the same name also passes by. Many cycle tourists set off on their tours from here, as the campsite is an ideal starting point for cycling trips. Rosenheim is just nine kilometres away along the River Inn; Wasserburg is around 20 kilometres away. What’s more, popular long-distance cycle routes such as the Mozart Cycle Route and the Benediktweg are directly accessible.

Fun and sport at Lake Erlensee.

Anyone who likes to keep active on holiday will also find plenty to enjoy at Erlensee. The lake, with its small island, is perfect not only for swimming, but also for paddling and stand-up paddleboarding. You can also go inline skating, Nordic walking or hiking straight from the campsite – for example, through the floodplains of the Inn river, which lie right next to it. Young campers can let off steam in the playground, which is situated right by the lake and features a pirate ship, a climbing tower and a nest swing. Grandmas and grandads looking after the little ones can also relax here in the cool shade, with a view of the island. Visitors wishing to answer the call of the mountains can climb the Wendelstein in the Inn Valley or the Kampenwand in the Chiemgau – or reach the summit without breaking a sweat by cable car or rack-and-pinion railway. However, should the weather not be on your side, the nearby thermal spas in Bad Aibling, Wasserburg or Prien are a wonderful alternative – depending on whether you’re looking for relaxation (Bad Aibling) or the children want to let off steam at the water park (Wasserburg).

A rich history – from the Romans through to Ludwig II and the Rosenheim Cops.

There is no shortage of culture in this region, where the Romans and the Bavarians – right up to the ‘Fairy-Tale King’ Ludwig II – have all left their mark. Until mid-2027, culture-loving holidaymakers can, for example, visit the interactive exhibition ‘The Romans’ at the Lokschuppen in Rosenheim. From Erlensee, you can also enjoy relaxing day trips to Lake Chiemsee, which can be reached in 30 minutes via idyllic country roads, far away from the crowds. The Rosenheim Cops have long since become a real highlight for visitors. Many fans of the ZDF series follow in the footsteps of the detectives – either on a guided tour or on their own. The campsite’s reception team is on hand to provide plenty of information and recommendations, and will be happy to put together a personalised itinerary for each guest.

Trips by public transport.

Whether it’s sport, culture or sightseeing – the central location and good links to the public transport network open up a wide range of interesting leisure activities. You can leave your motorhome parked on the pitch, as Schechen railway station is about a ten-minute walk away. From there, it takes ten minutes to get to the centre of Rosenheim or 15 minutes to reach Wasserburg railway station. Both towns impress with their picturesque architecture dating back to the days of the salt trade. Wasserburg delights many visitors with its charming little shops and numerous street cafés, which invite you to linger and enjoy yourself.

Tradition with ambition.

The Erlensee campsite has been in existence for over 50 years and is now run as a family business by the fourth generation. As part of a comprehensive modernisation programme, particular emphasis is being placed on sustainability and nature conservation. The new reception area has been designed and built using solid timber construction methods to be carbon-neutral, utilising sustainable building materials. Furthermore, the family who run the site are committed to nature conservation and strive to keep the grounds as natural and unspoilt as possible. To this end, Benjes and willow hedges are being planted, and the existing thuja hedges are being systematically removed. And it’s not just the campers – the family of beavers that call the island home can also feel right at home here. Only the trees at Erlensee are off-limits and require the odd protective measure.

Good old Bavarian-style enjoyment.

Don’t feel like cooking? Then the Erlensee adventure restaurant, situated right next to the campsite, invites you to feast and enjoy yourself. Whether it’s pork knuckle, schnitzel or mushrooms in cream sauce – lovers of Bavarian cuisine have come to the right place. And all this whilst enjoying a fresh half-pint of beer in the cosy beer garden, with views across the lake and into the Inn Valley.
